IMDEX’s LOGRx (formerly IQ-LOGGER) is a digital handheld tool that enhances the speed and accuracy of capturing structural orientations in diamond core samples, crucial for geological interpretations. Initially launched as a pre-production prototype, user feedback highlighted areas for improvement, particularly in mechanical durability, ergonomics, and usability. IMDEX partnered with Hydrix to advance the device from a successful prototype to a robust, market-ready product.

Hydrix undertook a rapid redesign of the LOGRx to create a reliable, user-friendly, and production-ready tool. Key enhancements included:

• Improved Ergonomics & Usability: Redesigned form factor for better handling, with an intuitive design for on-site use, reshaped for extended comfort during repetitive field handling.
• Enhanced Mechanical Durability: Utilized robust materials and refined manufacturing techniques for increased reliability in harsh mining environments.
• Manufacturing & Assembly Improvements: Optimized materials and methods to boost durability and streamline production in Western Australia.
• Streamlined Data Management: Enabled real-time digital transfer and built-in stereonet projection for immediate data verification, empowering quick, informed decision-making.
• Design for Maintenance: Simplified disassembly for efficient servicing and repair, extending the device’s operational lifespan.

From initial consultations to product rollout, Hydrix met aggressive timelines, delivering the redesigned solution with initial production available by Q4 2022. This collaboration provided IMDEX with a tool that not only met market demands but also set a new standard for structural geology technology in mining.
